Heavybit welcomes mobile app development startup Apportable.

Earlier this month Heavybit welcomed its newest member — Apportable. Apportable lets developers build native cross-platform applications from a single codebase.

Developers can create fast, truly native apps and games that can run on any Android or iOS device straight from Objective-C – no VMs’, no emulators, and no Java translation required. An alumni of Y Combinator and StartX, Apportable powers hundreds of popular apps including Kingdom Rush Origins, Biophilia and Dots that have delighted hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

Why Apportable & Heavybit?

In the past if you wanted to build a responsive mobile app for multiple platforms you had to hire separate teams to maintain multiple code bases, test environments and deployments. It also meant companies needed considerably longer time to market between versions, and bigger budgets to maintain and support divergent code bases. Apportable lets developers use the tools they love to write an application once and run it anywhere.

Says Heavybit founder James Lindenbaum, “As the world moves toward continuous development and delivery of software, the schism between mobile platforms is one of the most difficult blockers. While others have created superficial solutions that require a total rewrite of the application to a different technology stack, Apportable has created a deep solution to this problem: the ability to cross-compile your existing iOS codebase to Android – continuously and without modification. With the mobile and connected device world continuing to explode, we’re very excited by the opportunity Apportable has to expand their already incredible traction and technology.”
